Designer's Description

The main idea of the plan for restoring the ceiling of Notre-Dame cathedral has been presented following the fire incident (conflagration) with regards to the gothic architecture. This Gothic style design is relevant to the styles existing in the architectural historical eras (Religious Style) which had been invariably serving to the churches. Such similar events that one significant monument or one historic construction is destroyed in the flames of fire and in the different parts of the world have occasionally been heard in the mass media and accordingly this is very regrettable because such works of art belong to the whole world and of course and most of all it firstly appertains to the French people, their country and culture. But the question is that for the time being what should be done for the restoration and reconstruction of the foregoing cathedral after such incident?

Should the cathedral be restored like its former design again? Or the cathedral should be designed based on a similar shape so that it could associate the past time of the same? Or we may design the said cathedral through maintaining and retaining the originality and significance of such beautiful monument as we witnessed the changes and evolutions therein from the physical, historical and philosophical points of view and this change is in compliance with the time and events and new generations and the advancement of technology due to the fire incident which happened in a modern way and then integrating the same with the past time and the visual communication with regards to the time and interval that we are living therein? How we can retain the importance of such cathedral and any memorial of the same after the conflagration for the next generations and for the different and modern cultures and religions? How we can create a space that it could associate the fairness, purity and as a memorial of a modern style other than the conflagration incident? And many other questions that we should think about them. Now, with regards to such thought we have tried our best to design the beautiful ceiling of Notre-Dame based on a modern style and considering the purity & clarity characteristics of such gorgeous historic work and with regards to the era which we are living therein and applying the modern and transparent incrustation and texture inspiring Notre-Dame Cathedral architecture instead of relying on the bitter incident of conflagration. Gothic era in the world culture had been the era of religious domination especially the church on the societies.

The type of communications in that era was defined vertically namely the whole dimensions and aspects of life were defined in the direction of God and for him. Such pattern and model in the architecture of that time have shown themselves in the form of upward arrows which often are in a pyramid and sharp (Triangle) forms (Towards God) and with regards to the happened incident and the climatic situation of France and also the French Architecture which the ceilings are often built in a pyramid form therein therefore we have cut the ceiling from the appropriate level and surface in designing such idea so that this condition could make the light reflection into the church  possible and we could be able to witness the water shining and the transfer of the same to the visitors from inside the church. Water is a symbol and manifestation of purity and cleanliness.
